The almost untouched western lakes of Loweswater, Ennerdale Water, Wast Water are a must for keen walkers wanting to explore the Lake Districts' western fells. As is the picturesque Borrowdale valley, home to the villages of Rosthwaite and Seatoller.
Closer to our lake district B&B is of course Bassenthwaite Lake and Derwent Water, both of which offer sailing and canoeing as well as excellent lakeside parks and woodland walks. Bassenthwaite Lake is also home to England's only breeding Ospreys, making it a must for bird watchers.
Our north lakes guest house also offers access to the eastern lakes of Ullswater and Haweswater, as well as Penrith, a busy market town on the edge of the Lake District.
Of course the southern tourist spots of Bowness-on-Windermere, Ambleside, Hawkshead and Coniston are within a short drive of our Bed and Breakfast. On the way you'll pass Grasmere and Rydal Water, two of the Lake District's smallest lakes, yet set in some of the most awe inspiring scenery. The village of Grasmere was also home to William Wordsworth and the area inspired some of his best loved poems.
On the opposite edge of the National Park is the town of Cockermouth, birth place of William Wordsworth. It's wide main street is flanked with a host of gift shops, restaurants and bars, all offering excellent food and fine ales.
